The former Leone Stars player ignited firestorm of controversy after taking to his social media handles to openly criticize the Leone Stars technical team for questionable national team selections. The outspoken player pointed fingers at the decision to invite players who currently do not have clubs while players who continue to put in the numbers are left out, a topic that has long been a quiet concern among administrators, journalists and the likes.

Currently plying his trade in Iceland with Grindavik, Kwame Quee, who was instrumental in the national team’s historic qualification for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon after a 26-year absence, expressed his discontent with the inclusion of players who are currently without clubs. “To be honest, I don’t know what’s wrong on the other side,” he lamented. “I’m ready to represent at any time, but I’ve seen selections that simply don’t make sense.”

Kwame Quee-27 remains confident in his abilities and insists that the nation still has enough talents, the former Old Edwardians man advocates for a strategic blend of youth and experience as a significantly crucial asset to bolster the national team’s chances of qualification for future competitions.. He voiced his belief that the nation is overlooking valuable players who could make a difference. “We have many players that can help the country qualify,” Quee remarked. “Mix the good young players with some experienced players. “We’re not old yet—we still have the energy to contribute to the nation,” Quee said, dispelling any notion that his exclusion could be due to age or form.

Quee’s candid remarks raise critical questions about the decision-making process within the Leone Stars’ technical team. His willingness to confront the status quo reflects a growing frustration among Sierra Leonean players who feel their hard work and constant numbers are being overlooked for players who do not have clubs or competitively engage enough to represent the national team. However, the potential fallout from this controversy may impact the national team’s dynamics and morale, as players rally around a call for fairness and transparency in the selection process.
