(PC) 14032 Koroma E. F. attached to the Ross Road Magistrate Court as a prosecutor has narrated how Police Constable Cole A.D. caught and arrested one Johnson Williams stealing from the twenty bags of rice being tendered as exhibits before Magistrate Sahr Kekura who presides over the aforesaid court.
The exhibits being tendered is in respect of a matter involving a Labourer Mohamed Jalloh from CTC.
The police alleged that Jalloh on Wednesday 12th March 2023 at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay, Cline Town, in the East of Freetown, stole the said twenty bags of rice belonging to the Government of Sierra Leone.
Madam Ekun said Johnson Williams was apprehended on Wednesday 31st May 2023 in the court premises, smartly dressed as one of the litigants roaming around the court to wreck havoc.
She said initially, Police Constable Agnes Dixon Cole saw Williams behind the twenty bags of rice pretending as if he was hiding from someone.
She said PC Agnes Dixon Cole went close to him, she discovered that Johnson Williams have already loaded the rice in a black plastic bag, which prompted them to get him arrested and took him at the Ross Road Police Station where they made statements.
Twenty-one years old Johnson Williams have been charged to court for the offence of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
A personnel name withheld, working for Sierra Leone Correctional told this medium that on Friday 2nd June, Johnson Williams while in prison also stole loaves of bread belonging to one of their colleague officers.
