The Head of Media at the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Assistant Superintendent of Police Brima Kamara, yesterday told journalists that “no arms and ammunition was discovered” at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Kingtom in Freetown after spending two days offloading a 40ft container.
He said the suspected 40ft container was opened and dozens of cartons of frozen gizzard were found in it, adding that no arms or drugs were uncovered, contrary to what was previously reported in social media.
He said they had done thorough checking of the container from Monday to Tuesday “in front of the IG and National Revenue Authority (NRA)”.
The police, he added, had “done their job to identify what is inside the container”.
Brima Kamara also stated that the said “container will be handed over to the owner”, but they did not disclose who the owner was.
