Abubkar Jalloh and Abubakar Sesay who were arrested on 29th April 2023 by Detective Police Constable 19301 Tumbey B., have appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Ross Road Court No.1 for the offences conspiracy and larceny contrary to law.
It was alleged that the accused, on Saturday 22th April 2023 at No.74 Sanda Street, Calaba Town, Freetown, conspired with unknown persons to commit a felony to wit larceny.
The charge sheet furthered that Abubakar Jalloh and Abubakar Sesay on the same date and place in Freetown, stole bulb, red colour bulb an Orange Money box contained Seventeen Thousand One Hundred and Fifty-Six New Leone (NLe17,156) properties of Alie Mohamed Koroma.
Prosecution Witness II (PW)2, Aminata Yusuf Kamara residing at No.3 A Standa Street in Calaba Town in Freetown she knew the complainant and recognised the accused. She recalled Saturday 22th April 2022.
PW2 said she was at home, adding that he saw the accused and his men asking for the complainant.
She continued that e complainant came outside asking who they were asking for him responding she said the accused told him that the complainant’s brother whose name was not mentioned had complained him to them that he had not regard for him.
She said the complainant refused to come out and asked them to say whatever they wanted to say.
She said when the complainant refused to come, the accused vowed to deal with him.
The complainant’s younger sister, Mary was crying, saying that her elder brother Malikie had hired people to stab her brother, disclosing that one of the men was armed with bottles.
She said the accused forcefully pushed the door and one of them took the box contained money and the complainant’s sister, Marah was screaming.
The witness said the accused slapped Mary on her jaws six times, but she couldn’t identify them because the place was dark.
She said they called upon a police officer Soj adding that Soj later came at the crime scene and the accused was arrested and conveyed to Phomix and made a statement at the Calaba Town Police Station in Freetown.
Defence counsel M. A. Conteh cross examined the witness on their behalf.
He renewed and adopted his application for bail on behalf of the accused citing Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
In response, the accused wered denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road, Freetown.
The matter was adjourned for further hearing.
