The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the list of 25 players invited to join the Leone Stars training camp ahead of the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Guinea Bissau and Egypt in March.
The newly appointed Head Coach, Mohamed Kallon, has selected a mix of experienced and youth players to form the core of the team, with the aim of building a competitive squad capable of overcoming the challenges ahead.
The training session is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, February 18, at the SLFA Academy, Kingtom, Freetown.
According to a statement from the SLFA, all homebased players are expected to report to camp on or before the commencement of training. The 25-man squad list includes two goalkeepers, eight defenders, nine midfielders, and six forwards, showcasing the diversity and depth of the team’s talent pool.
Coach Kallon’s selection process is believed to have been thorough, with a focus on identifying players who possess the necessary skills, experience, and physical fitness to compete at the highest level.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Guinea Bissau and Egypt will be a crucial test of the team’s mettle, and SLFA is confident that the selected players are capable of rising to the challenge. “This is a significant step forward for Sierra Leonean football,” said SLFA’s representative. “We have every faith in Coach Kallon’s ability to mould a world-class team, and we look forward to watching Leone Stars compete against the best teams in Africa.”
The training squad will undergo intense preparations in the lead-up to the qualifiers, with a focus on building team cohesion, fine-tuning tactics, and improving physical conditioning. Coach Kallon has pledged to adopt a holistic approach to team management, prioritizing player welfare and ensuring that each individual reaches their full potential. “We are committed to building a team that the people of Sierra Leone can be proud of,” Kallon said. “Our goal is to make it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and we will do everything in our power to achieve this ambition.”
