The Minister of Transport and Aviation Kabineh Kallon, has said in Freetown that the sum of Two Hundred and Seventy Million United States Dollar ($270) was spent on the construction of the new terminal at the Freetown International Airport.
He described the facility as a new airport in Kafu-Bullom chiefdom and it will be ready to host the largest flit to land at the airfield.
Kallon informed that it is not true that government has terminated the services of staff at the airport, adding that those who might not live up to requirements set by the new management of the new company would leave those with the set requirement will continue with Summa Group of Companies which is going to take up the operations of the airport for a period of one year.
He said the purpose of Summa Company is a private business, different from government.
Kallon said government does not have any hands in the internal operations of the company, adding that there will be only one component which is the Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA).
He said that government has done its best to ensure that there is smooth transition from SLAA to the new company.
Director-General of Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (S LC A A) Dr. Moses Tiffa Bayo said that SLCAA has transition from SLAA to Summa Company, which will fully takeover the operation.
