Sierra Leone’s National men team, Leone Stars, has set sight with optimism as they prepare for their Wednesday’s showdown against Djibouti in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
The Leone Stars camp is with deep commitment as they gear up to proudly represent Sierra Leone on June 5th, 2024, at the Stade Abi El Jadida in Morocco.
Following the arrival of the Leone Stars Delegation in Morocco for World Cup Qualifier, a cross-section of the Leone Stars delegation, led by the Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association Harold Nat-Johnson, the team is in full readiness for their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Djibouti on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The delegation includes home-based players, technical officials, and representatives from the government and the Sierra Leone Football Association.
The team lodged at the prestigious Pullman Hotels and Resorts, ensuring a comfortable stay as they gear up for the crucial encounter.
After a successful day 2 and 3 training session, The National Head Coach of Leone Stars Amidu Karim admonished his squad noting that they most go for wins.
He started off by reminding the players not to underrate any team in the ongoing Qualifiers. “If we want to qualify to the World Cup 2026, we should start winning games, beginning with Djibouti on June 5th,” he said.
Compelled by the compulsive nature of football being the nation’s first love, the gaffer told his zealous squad that Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad are expecting Leone Stars to secure wins against Djibouti and Burkina Faso.
In return, the players expressed determination in their zest to secure the much anticipated victory Sierra Leoneans so hope for.
Leones Stars sits 4th in group A of the World Cup Qualification CAF Group table with one point. Wins against Djibouti and Burkina Faso will put Leones Starts in a perfect position with 7 points.
