A thirty years old commercial bike rider, Abass Turay, has last Friday 28 July 2023, sentenced to six month imprisonment at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for larceny.
The convict Abass Turay made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 Freetown.
According to the particulars of offence, Turay on Tuesday 20 June at Sheriff Drive, Regent Road, Lumley West of Freetown sold one motorbike tyre and rims value One Thousand Three Hundred Leones being a property of Issa Sesay.
The Charge sheet was read and explained to Abass Turay who pleaded guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector Mohamed Kamara told the court that the charge sheet showed there are available records against the convicted person.
The convict was legal unrepresented and as such pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, owing to the fact he is a single parent with three daughters that he is responsible for them. Abass Turay was unable to control his emotion and burst into tears.
As a result of his plea mitigation, Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra sentenced him to six months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
