ECOWAS Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture Attends AMAO and ZMAO Statutory Meetings

Mrs. Massandjé TOURE-LITSE, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture took part in the statutory meetings of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) and West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) which were held from February 10 to 14, 2025 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

During the meeting of the Committee of Governors of the Central Banks, Madam Commissioner, reiterated the ECOWAS Commission readiness to ensure coordination and collaboration with all the stakeholders involved in the implementation of the ECOWAS monetary cooperation programme.

During the WAMZ Convergence Council meeting, the Commissioner stressed the need for Member States to intensify their efforts to harmonize their regulatory frameworks, improve the quality of statistical data and strengthen evaluation mechanisms.

She concluded her remarks by affirming that the ECOWAS Commission remains fully committed to working with regional institutions and Member States in the implementation of the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Programme.

On the sidelines of the statutory meetings, Madam Commissioner, accompanied by her team and Mr. HAROUNA Moussa, ECOWAS Permanent Representative to Sierra Leone, paid a courtesy call on the Ministers of Finance, Trade, and Planning and Economic Development of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
