Have you heard him speak? Every word is from the heart. Have u listened to him talk about his service to APC and Sierra Leone? His many exploits in peace and conflict? What about his drive for capacity building of youths? In all, never has he demonstrated any fiber of arrogance. Zero boaster. Dr Banguraβs hard work and diligence is cloaked in silence. This gentleman is a million mile shy to take praise for things well deserved.Β His campaign team daily fights with him to have his good deeds captured and reported. No. Never have I seen such humility.
Never have I seen a leader who wants to be at so much peace with everyone. His emphasis on a clean and smear free campaign need not be over emphasized. Dr Ibrahim Bangura wants and sees the good in everyone. In a nation where political leaders are notoriously vindictive, this preacher of peace, unity and love is an exception. Not in words or demeanor, but in deeds.
This day, I want to remind our countrymen that we have found ourselves at crossroads where our leaders are not only boastful and haughty, they say a million things and do little or none. I have seen a young man who backs every word with action. As a citizen, I am personally in awe of his sincerity. Leadership is not exhibited in vain desires, it is a deliberate and calculated effort to see good in everyone and to help make bad situations better not only for self, but for all. That is who Dr Ibrahim Bangura truly is. A leader. A lover of peace. A great statesman.
