Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Sierra Leone has donated essential school feeding supplies to three educational institutions, directly supporting the government’s Free Quality Education (FQE) program.
The beneficiaries are Destiny Kids Academy, the National School for the Deaf, and The Milton Margai School for the Blind.
The donations, which took place between September 24th and 29th, 2025, was part of GTBank’s strategic focus on ensuring that all children, especially those from vulnerable and marginalized communities, have the nutritional support necessary to thrive in school.
Speaking during one of the handover ceremonies, Abubakarr Mafo Bangura, Head of Corporate Communications at GTBank, emphasized the bank’s belief in education as the cornerstone of national development.
“Through these donations to school feeding programs, we are helping to reduce hunger, improve attendance, and encourage better learning outcomes. Supporting children’s nutrition is a critical part of the learning process.” Bangura stated.
The heads of the recipient institutions expressed profound gratitude for the bank’s intervention, highlighting the direct impact the supplies will have on their students.
Madam Nancy Esther Mannah of Destiny Kids Academy received the donation at the bank’s Freetown head office. “This donation means so much to us,” she said. “It is a reminder that we are not alone in our mission to provide children with both education and nutrition. This is more than charity—it is an investment in the lives of our future leaders.”
At the National School for the Deaf, Madame Winifred, Head of the school, noted, “This donation will go a long way in supporting our students, particularly in providing them with the necessary nutrition to focus and learn effectively. We appreciate GTBank’s commitment to inclusive education.”
Head of Milton Margai School for the Blind, Mr. Salieu Turay, echoed the sentiment. Saying: “We appreciate GTBank’s commitment to inclusive education and look forward to continued partnerships. This support is crucial for our students.”
These donations are a key part of GTBank’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy in Sierra Leone, which has previously included impactful projects in health and community development.
