Dr Ibrahim Bangura a 2028 flagbearer aspirant for the All People’s Congress APC has called on party members to put aside internal divisions and focus on collective responsibility and action as the party prepares for future leadership contests.
Addressing party members and stalwarts Dr Bangura stressed that the current moment demands unity rather than factionalism. He warned that internal disagreements if allowed to deepen could weaken the party and undermine its ability to present a strong and credible alternative to the electorate.
“This is not the season for division. It is the season for duty,” Dr Bangura told the gathering. He said the APC must move beyond internal disagreements and personal interests and instead focus on the broader national responsibility it owes to the people of Sierra Leone.
Dr Bangura emphasized the need to link ideas with concrete action. According to him leadership is not only about vision but also about the willingness to act decisively in the interest of the party and the nation. He described his generation as one that refuses to separate thinking from doing and called on party members to match their words with practical efforts aimed at rebuilding public trust.
He urged APC supporters to rise above personal and factional differences and unite around a shared national purpose. “Let us unite with one purpose: to Heal Unite and Build,” he said adding that unity within the party is essential if the APC is to reform itself and offer credible leadership to the country.
The flagbearer aspirant linked party unity to national progress arguing that a divided political organization cannot effectively contribute to nation building. He noted that the APC has a historic role to play in shaping the future of Sierra Leone and that this responsibility requires discipline maturity and a clear focus on national interest.
Dr Bangura also appealed to party elders youth and grassroots supporters to see themselves as partners in the reform process. He said lasting change cannot be achieved by a few individuals at the top but must be driven by collective effort across all levels of the party.
Reflecting on accountability Dr Bangura reminded party members that history judges leaders and movements by their actions not by their explanations. He said the decisions taken today will determine how future generations assess the APC’s contribution to national development and democratic growth.
His message comes at a time when the APC continues to navigate internal debates and external political pressure. Observers say the call for unity and action reflects growing concern within the party about the impact of internal divisions on its public image and electoral prospects.
As the race toward the 2028 elections gradually takes shape Dr Bangura’s remarks position him as a voice advocating reconciliation reform and active leadership. Whether his message resonates across the party remains to be seen but his address has added to the ongoing conversation about the APC’s direction and responsibility in shaping Sierra Leone’s political future.
