The Deputy Imam of Masjid Ridwan Mosque at Wharf Road, Portee, Sheik Lamin Kargbo has informed this medium in an exclusive interview that 52 Imams in Ward 409, Constituency 116 have unanimously endorsed a son of the soil who is aspiring for the All Peoples Congress (APC) party symbol for the June 2023 parliamentary elections.
Sheik Lamin Kargbo also revealed that the 52 Imams are from various mosques in the constituency including Ghadaffi, Masjid Taqua of William Street, Portee and Masjid Rabulila and prayed that Idrissa Sesay is awarded the party symbol during the APC convention to be held soon citing the aspirant’s numerous contributions to the people and the constituency as well as the APC party itself and recalled Idrissa Sesay’s invaluable support to the party’s victory in the 2007 and 2012 general elections respectively.
According to the Chief Imam, Idrissa Sesay has created employment for youths in the constituency, distributed micro-credit loans and donated scholarships to the poor and less-privileged adding that he also initiated the regular cleaning of the Portee Market that had become an eyesore and death trap.
Other Imams expressed similar sentiments about Idrissa Sesay describing him as the poor man’s friend and man of the people in addition to being kind, God-fearing, firmed, focused, result-oriented, committed and dedicated to the ideals of the APC party.
The Imams went on to inform that they have just concluded the Idrissa Sesay Football Gala Competition at the Portee Rokupa Wharf were the participating teams and players won various attractive prizes adding that Idrissa Sesay has also donated food items and money to various mosques in constituency 116 including Portee, Congo Water and Rokupa.
They furthered that the APC aspirant for the 2023 elections facilitated the donation of scholarships to Imams during the reign of the APC government between 2007 and 2018.
People in the constituency, including Councilor Cecelia Fatmata Williams of Ward 409, have also declared their unflinching support to Mr. Idrissa Sesay.
Idrissa Sesay intimated this medium in an exclusive interview that he is not surprised that 52 Imams in the constituency have endorsed him for the APC symbol which he observed is their expression of gratitude for his selfless services to the people and the constituency over the years and prayed to God Almighty to clinch the APC parliamentary symbol to contest in the next general elections.
