The Director of Professional Standards, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sahr Yomba Senesie, has told journalists at the police press conference at George Street in Freetown that nine (9) police office had been sake in the last few days for breaching the 2001 Police Disciplinary Regulations on drugs.

He said in the force there are no sacred cow and that an officer caught with kush or in a place where it is been sold will toe the line like any other offender.

He added that besides Kush, officers who go out of their way in the discharge of their duties would be dealt with according to the 2001 disciplinary regulations.

He assures that the SLP is making sure that it delivers the best for Sierra Leoneans.

Chairman of the press conference Director of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr. John Martin Senesie informed that as institution mandated by law to protect lives and properties, they are doing their best and would continue but cannot do it all alone thus the need for multisectoral approach.“Kush prevalence he said has increased to a point of becoming worrisome in the country”.

“If this Kush prevalence continues in this way, for the next 10 to 15 years, our human resources capacity will be doomed” said CP Lahai.

The Kush fight he said should therefore be the concern of all and not be left in the hands of the police alone.

Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Ross Road Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kpulun stated that demolishing of makeshift structures use as ghettos or selling points of Kush also form part of the new measures in curbing the menace.
