Africell Sierra Leone (Africell SL) Thursday 2nd July, 2020 donated Information Communication and Technology equipment including 4G Mifi and a 4G router with unlimited data and one of the latest smart phones to the Ministry of Information and Communications, in Freetown.
Media and Radio Manager John Konteh whiles making the presentation said the handing over of ICT equipment was a reflection of Africell SL’s avowed commitments towards empowering and assisting the efforts of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Mr Konteh said in the age of new media most people, private and public institutions utilize social media via ICT support to reach their target audience with public information, adding that Africell SL realizes that the ministry needs the equipment in doing its work which is why they made the donation towards assisting them in their efforts in reaching out to their target information recipients.
He observed that there are now more news audience on the social media that ever before and whatever is disseminated will reach the largest population within few moments, pointing out the more reasons why the Ministry of Information and Communications deserve the require ICT equipment at such a material time.
Speaking after symbolic receiving of the on behalf of Government and her ministry, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mamadi Gobeh Kamara, extended her thanks and commended the telecom company’s continued efforts in assisting the different facets of Sierra Leonean society.
She noted rapid pace at which the new media is replacing the traditional media, indicating that nobody wants to be left out in what they are doing in making sure that they remain on top of what they are doing.
The Deputy Minister extended her ministry’s deepest thanks and appreciations to the telecom company for always reaching out to them with the necessary ICT tools and described Africell SL as a true friend.
