Hon Justice Anthony Ganda of the Bo High Court has sentenced former District Supervisor at the Ministry of Agriculture Forest Food and Security (MAFF), Mustapha Sebesin who was working at Gendema, Sahn Section, Bumpeh Gao Chiefdom in Bo District. Sebesin was fined Fifty Thousand New Leones (NLe 50,000) or alternatively served a jail term of five years imprisonment.
The defendant was before the court on a count of indictment misappropriation of public property, contrary to Section 36 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008.
It could recalled that on 8th April 2019, the ACC field in an indictment relating to the misappropriation of thirty (30) bags of fertilizer properties been allocated to the people of Gendema, Sahn Section, Bumpeh Gao Chiefdom, Bo District, under the auspices of the Diversity Food Production Project (DFPP), by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS).
Delivering his judgement shortly after the matter was mentioned by the Court Clerk, Hon Justice Ganda said the defendant was arraigned before him on allegation of corruption. Hon Justice Ganda said a matter of such nature, it is the burden of the prosecution to prove its case beyond all reasonable doubt.
Presenting their case, he said the ACC witnesses’ testimony corroborated.
The learned Hon Judge furthered that the ACC brought in evidence, which linked the defendant directly to what was alleged.
Having pursue the Prelim preliminaries, and he imprisoned the convict or instantly paid a of Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe50,000) or alternatively served a jail term of five years imprisonment.
