The arrival of Phillip Neville has made news all over ‘downbelow’ and journalists from the four corners of the world have assembled at Stop Press Restaurant for an emergency press conference.
Newspapers, radio and television stations have carried the news of the press conference for a rousing welcome of Philo. Dominic Kabba Kargbo, fondly called manna from heaven, Alieu Territorial Integrity Kamara, Jonathan Macauley, Ahmed Bob Kanneh, Rod Mac-Johnson, Clearance Roy-Macauley, Mohamed Sowa and Richie Olu-Gordon were at Sunny Marke when Christo Johnson saw former SLAJ President, Sam Metzger walking along with Pa Herbert Johnson and Hon. Frank Kposowa on Garrison St.
BBC’S Lans Fofie and Foday Fofana suddenly appeared together with Jon Z. Foray.
Smiling, Jon Z. Foray said, “guys, the rumor about the arrival of Phillip Neville here is no more news but all the same its news from ‘upabove.’ Do you remember when we were ‘upabove’ when the BBC interviewed Dominic Kabba Kargbo who used the words “manna from heaven” in the interview? The youths chased him and all of us know what happened to him. It seems like Journalists are now joining us from ‘upabove’ like Kabba Kargbo’s manna from heaven. Paul Mansaray has confirmed his arrival in our cellphone conversation although some of our colleagues are still not sure of the arrival of Philo. Even Alex Terena has called me inquiring about the arrival of his former boss.”
Hello! “Is that Alex?” My name is Gbondima Gbondo. I know you might have forgotten me. You must have read some of my emails and articles in the Analysis Publication years ago. Your former boss, Philo is here with us. He arrived few weeks ago and I want you to contact me as soon as possible so that we can discuss how to welcome him at Stop Press Restaurant conference room 101 on 2023 Downtown Street ‘Downbelow’ Avenue. Please, I want you to immediately contact all former Standard Times staff who are with us ‘downbelow’ as Philo has good tidings for us all. In fact, he has brought a radio and television stations for us here not to talk about cellphones and iPads. Also, may I inform you that you Alex will be reading the news on both radio and TV. I know your cellphone is faulty as I can confirm from our conversation but you will soon get a new one.”
No sooner their conversation ended, another call from Issa B.M. Kamara came in and Gbondima Gbondo answered, “hello, who please?”
“I am former President Ahmad Tejan Kabba. I am presently with Teacher Lagawo and Hon. S. B. Marah.”
Gbondima responded, “hold on I.B.M., l will return your call soon. Former President Tejan Kabbah is on the line now.”
“Hello, H. E. you are speaking with Gbondima Gbondo. How are things and your lovely wife Patricia? I guess it’s pretty much good. Are you in contact with Hon. M. B. Daramy, Okere Adams and others?”
“Yes, Gbondima I am in touch with Mohamed Bassiru Daramy. It’s only Okere Adams that it’s been a while we have not seen each other or communicated. The last time he complained to me that his cellphone was faulty. However, is it true that Phillip Neville has joined us from ‘upabove’? Can you contact me when you guys have the press conference on his arrival?”
Another call came in again, Gbondima smiled before he picked the call, “who is on the line please?”
“I am your former Vice President Solomon Berewa under the tenure of H. E. Tejan Kabbah. Gbondoma, can you please confirm the arrival of the Managing Editor and Proprietor of Standard Times Newspaper? Retired Brigadier Komba Mondeh, who just arrived from ‘upabove’, is with me and he too has brought many laptops and solar panels to be distributed amongst the military guys, his former colleagues. Retired Brigadier Komba Mondeh has also briefed about latest developments ‘upabove’ especially the June 2023 elections under the proportional representation system. I have already contacted Colonel A. K. Sesay to come and collect his own laptop.”
