The Police Regional Commander East, Andrew Mustapha Kamara has Tuesday 7th March 2023 received seventy-one police personnel from the National Police Training School at Sierra Leone Peace Keeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA) Hastings in the Western Rural District.
Speaking to personnel on arrival at their deployment base, the Police Regional Commander reminded them that they are no longer civilians but police officers. He indicated that they are now guided by the forty-seven rules that generally governed the Sierra Leone Police Force.
He continued that even though the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone gives considerable responsibilities to the police, those responsibilities must be conveyed within the precincts of the laws of the land.
He motivated all to accept wherever they would be posted, and to obey lawful instructions, adding that the transfer from them to come to the east region of the country is to boost and strengthening the other personnel in the region for effective security dispensation. He reassured personnel of the availabilities of food and accommodation.
The Regional Operational Support Division (OSD) Coordinator East, Superintendent Fomba Jusu informed personnel that policing is one of the most difficult jobs to handle when it is left in the hands of few and therefore encouraged all to maintain team spirit in the dispensation of their duties.
He stated that the SLP is a disciplinary institution, thereby urged all to remain disciplined and maintained professionalism in executing police duties.
