Thirty-five year old Musa Bangura alias press en start a masonner and twenty-seven year old Abubakar Conteh alias J-Z, a labourer, has made their first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on four count charges to wit Conspiracy to Commit a Felony contrary to law, Robbery with Aggravation, and two count ranging from Assault Occasioning to actual bodily harm.
According to the particulars of offence on the 30th March 2023, at No.6 Bangs Drive Metchem Goderich in the Western Area in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation on count two at the same place and date both accused persons being armed with a gun, cutlass and scissors robbed Sheku Kakay the sum of Ten Thousand United States Dollars equivalent to Two Hundred and Fifteen Thousand New Leones (NLe215,000) physical cash of One Hundred and Eighty Leones (NLe180) clothing apparels valued at Thirty Thousand New Leones (NLe30,000) one bluetooth speaker, valued at Four Thousand Three Hundred Leones (NLe4,3000) one plated necklace, valued at Five Thousand Leones (NLe5,000), five iPhone 11 Pro max each, valued at Eight Thousand Leones all to the total sum of Forty Thousand Leones (NLe40,000) one Samsung S-10 plus mobile phone, valued Three Thousand Leones (NLe3,000), two infinix mobile phone valued each at Three Thousand Leones (NLe3,000), all to the total sum of Six Thousand Leones (NLe6,000) four plasma television, valued at Five Thousand Leones each all to the total sum of Twenty Thousand Leones (NLe20,000) all to the grand total of Three Hundred and Twenty-Three Thousand Three Hundred Leones (NLe323,300) property of Sheku Kakay Manager of Sasco. On count two and three both accused persons assaulted Sheku Kakay and Abdulai Kallon in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea was taken.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim S. Mansaray lead the Prosecution Witness Number Two, Abdulai Kanu a cleaner he recognized the accused persons in the dock in this matter on the 30th March at around 3:00 am himself, Sacco and his manager, the witness said duties is to lock all the doors and windows of the house at the above time the accused persons entered the house well harmed with cutlass and gun the witness said the accused person put the manager under gun point, the witness said the second accused person slapped him three times with the cutlass the witness said he feel pain the second accused person asked him for money he told him that he didn’t have by then Sacco was inside the bathroom as soon as Sasco came out they put him under a gun point, the witness said the first accused person asked Sheku Kakay Sasco’s manager requested for the key of the safe the witness said in front of him the accused persons took the money inside the safe they took their phone they eat their Sokolie also the witness said the accused persons lock all of them inside one room the witness said the accused persons asked for the key for the main door he didn’t give it to them the witness said the accused persons use their way out from where they entered the witness said he made statement at Lumley Police Station they issued police medical request form to him he conclude.
The witness was cross examined by J. Smith.
Counsel representing the accused persons renewed his previous bail applications for and on behalf of the accused persons.
Meanwhile Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 18th of July 2023.
