The Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Sierra Leone Women are Free to Choose (SLAWFC), Fuambai Nyoko Ahmadu has told press men and relevant stakeholders of Civil Society Organizations that the lawsuit filed by the Minister of Information and Civic Education Anti-Female Genital Mutilation group called Purposeful Forum against the National Sowies Council and the government of Sierra Leone is false.
According to her, many Sierra Leonean women had gone through such initiation without any hindrance willingly.
The process, she added is a passage into womanhood and not as alleged in the case filled by the plaintiff.
She told the media that seven years ago, that is in 2006 madam Elsie Kondomofoh, vice president of the Sowies Council was arrested on the said allegation of kidnapping and forceful initiation of Mrs. Kadijatu into the Bondo society and the government for failing to enact the Anti-FGM legislation, thereby creating room for the said practice and failure by the government to investigate and prosecute the alleged kidnapper.
‘On the 20 April this year, Purposeful Forum again filed to the Economic Community of West African States – ECOWAS Court on the same allegation’, Madam Ahmadu disclosed.
Stating her organization position on both matters, SLAWFC Director called for transparent judicial process at the ECOWAS Court, owing to the fact that Madame Elsie is innocent and will be vindicated.
The alleged kidnapping and forceful genital mutilation is a ‘hoax’ and expressed optimisms that the legal process will expose the multimillion dollar organization pumped by the Western imperial feminism in a bid to foil African culture and practices, Nyoko Ahmadu said.
Since the minster was appointed, he has found himself in double jeopardy since he assumed the office as minister.
Minister Chernor Bah in his continued failed efforts to divert the media attention from his unprofessional action of shutting down of Radio Democracy to prevent the interview of the US Ambassador going public, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Sierra Leone Women are Free to Choose (SLAWFC), Madam Fuambai Nyoko Ahmadu has in a press conference requested the minister to resign.
According to SLAWFC Executive Director, information and Civic Education minister must step aside still the matter currently before the ECOWAS court filled by the minster’s organization Purposeful Forum against the National Sowies Council and the government of Sierra Leone determined.
Expanding on the crux of the matter on the lawsuit filed on 20 April, 2023 by the plaintiffs Purposeful Forum against harmful traditional practices in relation to an alleged 34 years old victim, Kadijatu Balaima Allieu.
