The opposition leader for the 2018 and 2023 general elections, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has commented on ARISE IIP and KINGHO Saga on his tweeter page. In his tweet, Dr. Samura Kamara strong advised the SLPP government to orderly maintain the relationship in order to prevent potential state embarrassment. He went further to also advised that government needs to bring the two parties (ARISE IIP and KINGHO) on the table for resolution.
He wrote: “I listened with keen interest, as an experienced Sierra Leonean in national economic management and nation building, to recent broadcasts by very senior government officials relative to a tripartite investment relationship between government, ARISE and KINGHO. I would want to caution that whatever difficulties there are bordering on this relationship, we desist from going public until the relationship is orderly mended. It is not impossible. Let us urge ourselves to handle the matter thoughtfully to prevent potential state embarrassment. Investor appetite for Sierra Leone is still lukewarm. It is strongly advisable to bring both companies to the table for resolution and avert any subsequent legal entanglements.”
For the past few days, the issue of IRISE IIP and KINGHO has been on the hot seat. Very recently, the Minister of Information and Civil Education, Chernor Bah held a press conference with a battery of journalists. During that press conference, the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamin Tarawalley Esq vividly told journalists that the contract between ARISE IIP and the Government of Sierra Leone terminated itself, and according to the government did not terminate the contract or neither IRISE IIP. He went further to state that base on the contract; ARISE IIP has failed to meet to certain conditions.
On the side of ARISE IIP, according to an article written by one of the local newspaper, Politico, the company is planning to take the Government of Sierra Leone to court.
