Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road court No1 yesterday sent one Ishmael Conteh to prison for allegedly killing Ishmael Morobia. The accused Ishmael Conteh was arraigned before the court on one count charges of murder contrary to section 1 of the offense against the persons Act 1861 as repealed and replace by section 1(a) of the schedule of the abolition of the death penalty Act 2022, act No 6 of 2022.
According to investigation police alleged that the accused on Wednesday 27 December 2023, at Dwarzack Freetown murdered Ishmael Morobia. Led in evidence by inspector Sellu Tap, witness Deema Kamara told the court she is a teacher and also business woman and knew the deceased as her brother’s son.
He also recognized the accused person in the matter in the doc. The witness informed the court that she was at home together with the deceased and later left for doing her business. Deema Kamara further that later when she returned in the evening hour she did not meet the deceased at home and she waited for a while but could not see him.
‘’I called someone from there to know where the deceased was nowhere to be found, the witness told the court’’.
She continued that she went in search of the deceased at Dwarzack community and asked some community members about his where about and was told he come by that area but has left.
She said the next day she went back to the community in search of the deceased but said she could not fine him and there after she went to the New England vile police station and reported the matter.
At the junction, the matter was adjourned to 13th February 2024 for continuation of the witness while the accused remanded in prison.
