An All Peoples Congress Party (APC) Youth Activist, Kelvin Wongbo Kamara who was an Okada Rider in Kambia District was an active member in the Mobilization of APC Youth in addition to transport APC materials during the Inter Party Meeting between the APC Youths and Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Youths which ended in serious confusion sometime in October 2022.
Sources disclosed that during the incident, his family house was vandalized and burnt down to ashes while his motor bike was carted away by some SLPP youths. The report intimated that Kelvin Wongbo Kamara, had to flee for his life because the Kambia Police open tear gas and fired live bullets to disperse the violent crowd.
It was confirmed later to our reporter that dozens of people were arrested and subsequently charged to court for various offences ranging from wounding with intent, causing grievous bodily harm, arson, disturbing the peace of civilized citizen, robbery to name a few. All of those arrested in 2022 are serving jail term in Kambia Prison.
Our investigative reporter spoke with Inspector Mansaray of the Kambia Police Station over the weekend noting that anytime Kelvin Wongbo Kamara, surfaces in Sierra Leone he would definitely be prosecuted.
Kelvin Wongbo Kamara was born on 15th August 2003, before he fled to Guinea during the violent Inter Party Meeting where he would have been killed by some SLPP youths. This press spoke with his older brother and he said that where ever Kelvin Wongbo Kamara, is at the moment he should stay put for security reason.
According to him, the Police are insisting that they want Kelvin Wongbo Kamara, for questioning even though their family house has been burnt down and his motor bike stolen yet still the police are in search of him. His lawyer friend advised him to stay out of the country until the situation is stable.
The report concludes that his younger sister was stripped naked and subsequently detained for 22 days before she was put on bail.
