Abass Turay, (Manager Abass) of Talented Guys at Kissi Town, Waterloo has personally constructed a bridge, estimated at millions of Leones, a development that has endeared him to the community and beyond.
He informed this medium that the funds used to build the bridge were meant to construct his house for his family but that due to the dire need of the community where thousands of people reside he decided to sacrifice the house for his family for the safety and wellbeing of the community.
The project, which was completed within two months (on 22nd June 2024) was not without challenges as some people were averse to this development but due to Abass Turay’s perseverance, commitment and dedication to duty it was completed in record time and now visitors as well as residents are enjoying the comfort of the bridge linking the communities that has made travel and communication easier.
Prior to the construction of the bridge by Abass Turay, there was a disconnect between Section A and Section C which made it almost impossible to connect the two communities as people had to travel miles to reach either of the sections in addition to the fact that some people even sustained severe injuries during accidents while others lost their lives while traversing the area or negotiating dangerous gutters and other death traps along the way especially during the rains when children are going to school.
Construction of the bridge was a concern and topmost priority for residents in the entire area but funding was the major challenge.
In an interview with this medium, Abass Turay revealed that although construction of a house for his family is paramount and cannot be overstated, the welfare and safety of the people is equally important, especially for school going children.
