The Houston Texas Chapter of the All People’s Congress Party on Saturday 19th October, 2024 inaugurated a new executive headed by their president Edward Shecka Kargbo in a colourful and excited ceremony at the Brenda’s Reception Hall in Houston, Texas, USA. The ceremony which was well attended attracted party executives, patrons, representatives of different chapters and supporters across the world.
After subscribing to the oath of office, the newly elected president of the chapter, Edward Shecka Kargbo; in his inaugural speech, expressed delight and appreciation for the confidence reposed in him to handle the mantle of leadership of the chapter, adding that; it signifies trust for his dedication, honesty and resilience towards fighting for the cause of the party. ‘I am was greatly humble because of this great sense of privilege and honour given to me to lead the Houston Chapter’ he said, thanking everyone for the trust, especially the leadership of the APC Party and the chapter and call on every party member at home and abroad to work together to reconcile the intra-party differences and strive towards leading the state governance. Members of the newly elected executive are; Edward Shecka Kargbo- President, Santigui Koroma -Vice-president, Coleson Roy Conteh-Secretary, Abu Fonti-Assistant Secretary, Yatta B Sesay-Treasurer, Hassanatu Turay-Deputy Treasurer, Hadja Hurai Kargbo- Organizing-Secretary and doubles as the First Lady, Deputy Organizing-Secretary Aminata Koroma, Yeabu Koroma–PRO, Doreen Kamara- Deputy PRO, Isatu Jeneba Conteh-Women’s Leader, Theresa Mansaray-Deputy Women Leader, Idriss Kargbo- Young Congress Leader, Deputy Young Congress Leader, Daniel Kamara, Dr Mathew Kamara- Veteran Leader and Moses Z Horton-Deputy-Veteran Leader.
Speaking to the president elect after his inaugural ceremony, he emphasized the importance of inauguration which is; to strengthen and unify the party, bring oneness to every party comrade and show that even though the party is in opposition, but still stand strong. As a party he said, they are confidence that they will get there, win elections and be victorious. He continued that these inaugurations aim at bringing everyone in the party in every corner of the globe together where they meet with other comrades they have never met before. That according to him is another way of bringing the party together. Again, Mr Kargbo affirmed that, even though the party is at the cross road, this sort of gathering promotes positive mind set and hope among its members and assured them of victory. ‘For where there is sunset, the sun is sure to rise again’ he concluded. The programme was climax by massive celebrations and fanfare.
