Sierra Leone is gearing up for an exciting celebration of music and culture with the upcoming ECOFEST 2024: The Illumination Edition, scheduled for December 20-21, 2024, at the Africell Beach Front in Lumley. The festival was officially launched on November 21, 2024, at the AYV Media Empire in Freetown, under the guidance of the festival’s founder and promoter, Abu Bakarr Turay, affectionately known as Kabaka.
This year’s festival theme, “The Illumination Edition,” focuses on showcasing Sierra Leone’s artistic vibrancy while fostering collaboration in the country.

According to the former Chief Executive Officer of ECOFEST who also double as the CEO of the Kabaka multimedia Entertainment, Abubakar Turay popularly know as Kabaka, AYV has been supportive to ECOFEST over the years and this year again AYV is there to support the movement of ECOFEST, adding that he is grateful to AYV for their partnership.
He noted that the launched was to reiterate their farm commitment to not only supported themselves but also to assure Sierra Leoneans that the partnership is for the good of the country and by extension the good of the continent because he said ECOFEST is mainly drive towards youth Empowerment in the country.
He said they decided to call it the ECOFEST because they’re given ECOWAS nations a chance to sells out their culture to the people of Sierra Leone. He added that a lot of people don’t understand the essence of the ECOFEST that was why they’re saying that let the ECOFEST team don’t come with other Africa musicians, and he said a lot of people are missing the point because the event is not only meant for Sierra Leone entertainers but it’s also meant for entertainers within the West Africa regions.
He admitted that the entertainment industry is a billion dollars investment across the world and people should have started investing in the entertainment. He said they’re seeing people making millions of dollars across the globe through entertainment and Sierra Leoneans should try to tap on that particular movement because he said it’s productive.
He noted that ECOFEST is for everyone and Sierra Leoneans need to hold it with all seriousness. He said other musicians from all nations are seriously anticipating to perform at the ECOFEST.
