Mohamed Kamara, Zainab Turay, Mohamed Kamara, Zakaria Sankoh, and Abdul Samuel Kamara made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No1, Monday, 27th January 2025.
They faced two count charges of Conspiracy to commit a Felony contrary to law, and Shop Breaking and Larceny- contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act- 1916.
According to court documents, the accused persons, on Monday 14th October 2024 at Koroma Lane- Calaba Town, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony- shop breaking.
Count Two furthered that the accused persons, on the above date and place, break and entered into the shop of Fatmata Kamara with intent to steal four big-size mayonnaise bottles, twenty big-size cooking oil containers, five cartons of Onga Maggie, twenty-four cartons of condensed (sweet) milk, and other assorted items- all to the total value of forty-one thousand, six hundred and ten Leones- property of Fatmata Kamara.
When the charges were read and explained to them, no plea was taken.
The state Inspector, Sellu T.A.P., led in Albert Sorie Kamara, Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Education, who knows the complainant and recognized the accused persons.
Sorie revealed that on the 14th of October 2024, he was at home sleeping around 8: 00 am when his mom woke him up to sell rice to one of her customers, pointing out that himself, together with the customer, went into the shop, opened it to see that everything was scattered, and also noticing a damaged back window, which might have been a passage for the crime.
Albert said that he immediately asked the costumer to call his mother; and upon her arrival, the place was crowded, and among was the first accused, as they discovered that a backpack which contained provisions was tampered with.
At that point, the prosecution sought for a short adjournment to have proper interrogation with his witness who was struggling with his testimony.
The witness was cross-examined by the accused persons who were on bail.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 6th February 2025 for further hearing.
