The Fourah Bay community witnessed a momentous occasion on Sunday, 2 February 2025, as prominent legal expert and APC 2028 flagbearer hopeful, Ady Macauley, made a significant donation of 200 bags of cement towards the expansion of the Jamiul Atiq Mosque.
His contribution was met with widespread appreciation from religious leaders, community elders, and government officials who gathered for the ceremonial turning of the sod.
The event was a grand affair, attended by a mix of political and religious stakeholders, all eager to witness the start of a project expected to transform the mosque into a larger and more accommodating space for worshippers.
Macauley’s presence at the ceremony was marked by a deep sense of humility and commitment. As he stepped forward to make his donation, the audience erupted in applause, recognizing not just his financial contribution but also his longstanding dedication to community empowerment.
“This mosque is more than a place of worship; it is a symbol of faith, unity, and heritage. As a proud Muslim and a son of this nation, I see it as my duty to contribute towards its growth and expansion,” Macauley stated, his voice echoing through the packed courtyard.
His donation was particularly celebrated by religious leaders, who acknowledged his continuous support for faith-based projects across the country.
The ceremony was graced by several high-profile attendees, including Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who was present as the keynote speaker to show solidarity with the initiative. The Vice President praised all sons and daughters of Fourah Bay for supporting the project, calling it an example of how individuals in positions of influence can play an active role in community development.
The event also saw strong representation from the APC, with several party members and grassroots supporters turning up to celebrate Macauley’s contribution.
Following his speech, Macauley joined other dignitaries in the symbolic turning of the sod, marking the official commencement of the expansion. As shovels dug into the ground, there was a palpable sense of excitement in the air as it was not just about bricks and cement; it was about uplifting a community and preserving a place of worship for generations to come.
Haja Mariama Wahid delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing deep appreciation to Macauley and all those who have pledged their support. The event concluded with final prayers from Madrassa Sulaimania Elekewe, as worshippers reflected on the significance of the day.
As Macauley exited the mosque grounds, he was met with handshakes, smiles, and words of gratitude from community members. His contribution had not only provided tangible resources for the project but had also reinforced his reputation as a leader who values faith, development, and the well-being of the people.
The program was chaired by Alhaji Prof. Aliyageen Mohamed Alghali, along with Alhaji Alieu Mahdi, the Chairman of the Project Implementation Committee, who gave an overview of the project.
