Sierra Leone’s maritime sector reached a historic milestone with the participation of Mr. Yakunba Bio, the first elected Director General (DG) of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority (SLPHA), at the Freetown Terminal Board Meeting in Puteaux, France.
His attendance at the meeting underscores the nation’s growing commitment to enhancing its port operations, fostering international collaboration, and spearheading sustainable development in the sector.
The year 2024 marks a pivotal moment in the history of the Freetown Terminal, a key facility that has played a crucial role in Sierra Leone’s trade and economic development since its establishment in 1964. The meeting in France highlighted the terminal’s continued importance, as well as Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to modernize port operations to stay competitive in an ever-changing global landscape.
