Ram Kamara Female Football Club has showcased its name in the history of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League by clinching the title of the 2024/2025 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League champions. Based in Bo, the second-largest city in the country, the team’s triumph marks a milestone not just for the club but also for the people of Bo, who have proudly celebrated their team’s rise to national prominence.
The journey to the top was anything but not easy, with last season’s champions, Mogbwemo Queens, putting up a formidable fight to retain their crown. However, Ram Kamara FC maintained high momentum throughout the season, showcasing skill, determination, and consistency that eventually propelled them to victory.
Despite being dethroned, Mogbwemo Queens concluded their campaign in style with a commanding 6-0 victory over SL Police Female at the SLFA Academy Playing Field in their final match of the season. The dominant performance ensured they finished as strong runners-up in the league standings.
Star forward Wuya Mohai was in electrifying form during the final game, scoring four outstanding goals to add to her already impressive goal tally for the season. Her individual brilliance earned her the Woman-of-th- Match title and further solidified her status as one of the most lethal attackers in the league.
In midfield, Fatmata Turay delivered another world-class performance, orchestrating play with precision and flair, contributing four assists in the match. Her efforts brought her season total to an astounding 23 assists, making her the league’s top playmaker for the 2024/25 campaign.
Defensively, Mogbwemo Queens’ goalkeeper Hannah Juana also closed out the season with a personal achievement—her 11th clean sheet. Her consistency and sharp reflexes between the posts were crucial to the team’s overall performance and strong finish in the league.
While Mogbwemo Queens exit the season with pride, the spotlight now shifts to Ram Kamara FC, who have not only lifted the league trophy but also earned the honour of representing Sierra Leone in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers. The qualifiers are set to take place in Senegal from August 3rd to 17th, where the Bo-based club will look to extend their success onto the continental stage.
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and fans across the country have praised Ram Kamara FC for their spirited and disciplined approach to the game. Their triumph is a reflection of the growing strength and popularity of women’s football in Sierra Leone, with more clubs and players now gaining recognition both locally and internationally.
Football analysts have noted that the league’s increasing competitiveness, exemplified by the close contest between Ram Kamara FC and Mogbwemo Queens, is a sign of progress for the women’s game in the country.
As champions, Ram Kamara FC’s next challenge will be to fly the national flag high in Senegal during the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers. Expectations are high, and supporters are hopeful the team will make Sierra Leone proud on the continental stage.
