Truth Media has strongly condemned the recent threats made against one of its journalists, Amadu Lamrana Bah, during a Facebook Live broadcast by Admire Bio and an individual believed to be her husband, Dauda Jalloh. The organization described the threats as deeply troubling and a serious attack on press freedom and public accountability in Sierra Leone.

According to Truth Media, the threats were made during a live video in which the individuals could be heard issuing violent remarks, including a direct statement suggesting physical harm toward Bah. One of the individuals allegedly vowed that upon returning to town, they would have the journalist “beaten.”

In a public statement issued on October 14, 2025, Truth Media expressed grave concern over the incident, calling it a dangerous escalation of hostility toward journalists and the media. The institution emphasized that such threats endanger not only the safety of journalists but also undermine democracy and the free flow of information in the country.

“As a responsible media institution, Truth Media has a duty to protect its staff and uphold the constitutional right to freedom of expression and of the press as guaranteed under Section 25 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone, 1991,” the statement read.

The organization confirmed that it has formally reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for investigation. Truth Media urged the authorities to take immediate action to ensure the safety of Bah, his family, and all journalists who continue to serve the public in good faith. It also called on members of the public to refrain from acts of intimidation or violence against media practitioners.

Truth Media extended appreciation to the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) for their swift intervention and continued advocacy for media safety. It praised SLAJ for standing in solidarity with journalists across the country and for defending press freedom and the right to independent journalism.

The institution also thanked friends, colleagues, and members of the public who have shown support and concern for Bah and his family during this difficult period. Messages of encouragement, solidarity, and public condemnation of the threats have been described as a source of reassurance and strength.

Truth Media reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible journalism and protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens. “We remain committed to factual reporting, justice, and respect for human rights. We will continue to perform our public duty without fear or favour,” the statement concluded.

The incident has reignited public debate about the safety of journalists in Sierra Leone and the need for stronger protection mechanisms for media workers who play a crucial role in holding power to account.
