The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Moon Ice Block manufacturing and processing company at Kissy Dockyard in the East of Freetown, Mr. Mounah Bucha has disclosed plans to create and offer more jobs for young Sierra Leoneans, in a bid to ease the economic burden on their shoulders. He said Moon Ice’s job offers are aimed at redirecting the minds of youth from criminal, violent and addiction activities.
Presently, over one hundred workers are employed by Moon Ice, as well as permanent staffs, who, according to the company’s CEO Mr Bucha, are receiving reasonable salary. He added that Moon Ice also make regular National Social Security and Insurance Trust – NASSIT contributions for and on behalf of staffs.
To engage more young Sierra Leoneans amidst the growing economic challenges, Moon Ice CEO said his company has decided to extend the operations to other parts of the country. He said he believes in helping others, so that in turn they will help others and together they can collectively build a better and developed nation.
Mr. Bucha said since the company was established over twenty years ago, many people have benefited including fish women, fishermen, community people and the public who buy their ice blocks for different business purposes.
The CEO maintained that through their operations, many small-scale businesses have survived for which the beneficiaries have expressed their profound appreciations to the company.
