In a letter to the Manager of EcoMed Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre at 19 Off King Harman Road in Freetown, dated 31st January 2025, the National Consortium on Public Accountability and the Consortium on Service Delivery and Community Accountability has referenced the previous meeting at the Heritage Newspaper offices at 34 Jones Street in Freetown with one Mr. Kech Bayor, during which they discussed several issues contained in the two letters the newspaper sent to the management of the EcoMed Advanced Medical Diagnostic Center.
According to the letter, the issues he (Mr. Kech Bayoh himself) consented to are tax evasion, no provision of radiation badges, payee tax and contravention of labor laws, warning that the letter is a gentle reminder of the Consortium’s next line of action.
The letter adds that the National Consortium on Public Accountability and the Consortium on Service Delivery and Community Accountability is obliged to write an official letter to the appropriate authorities for immediate action following series of issues regarding the EcoMed Advanced Medical Diagnostic Center that are connected to violations of labor laws, failure to provide radiation badges to radiographers, the lack of risk allowances, non-payment of NASSIT and NRA payee taxes respectively, no provision and safety gears for the radiation staff and uncultured, gross human rights violations.
According the Consortium, “these actions are considered to be gross violations of human rights and injustice to the highest degree that have no space in the 21st Century. In lieu of the allegations, the two Consortiums are seeking to have detailed clarifications on the issues highlighted within five working days. On this note, we request to have an immediate meeting with the senior management of your institution,” otherwise, “the Consortium plans to organize a massive press conference to enlighten the public on the allegations raised, institute legal action as well as organize protests across the working environment of your institution.”
