Freetown, Sierra Leone- Amara Kargbo, a labourer, Monday, 13th January, 2025, made an appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a charge of murder.
Kargbo was arraigned before the court on one count charge of murder contrary to Section 1(a) to the schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No.6 of 2022.
According to the particular of offence, the accused, Thursday September 26,2024, at No. 14 Sesay Lane Moeba in Freetown, murdered Moray Kargbo.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken.
Inspector Daboh A. led in witness number 4 Sergeant Buyah, who is an executive Clark at the Ross Road Police Station, producing a knife which was identified and tendered as ” Exhibit E.’’ That all.
Kargbo, who was unrepresented by any legal counsel, cross-examined the witness to prove his innocence.
The accused person asked Buyah why he is producing a knife?
Magistrate Keikura answered that he is just doing his job.
Amara furthered asked ‘’where is the dead body?’’ asking that the deceased body be presented in court. Such questions were unanswered as everyone was laughing.
Magistrate Keikura refused bail based on the seriousness of the offence charged; and he sent the accused to remand at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The case was adjourned to 20th January, 2025.
