Hon. Justice Simeon Alieu of High Court No.6 yesterday 16 March 2023 remanded Abdulai Koroma to the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for the alleged murder of his girlfriend Elizabeth Vincent.
The state alleged that the accused Koroma is charged with murder contrary to Law. The particulars of offense stated that, the accused Koroma on the 2 day of January, 2022 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone murdered one Elizabeth Vincent.
Prosecuting the matter, is detective Sargent Musa Koroma who told the court that he obtained statements from the accused. He tendered the statement in court marked as exhibit B1-12.
Detective Koroma informed that the accused told him that the deceased was his girlfriend and on the date in question, the deceased visited him and slept over at his place and that the allegation that he murdered the girlfriend was not true.
He said the deceased complained of stiffed neck on the night of the incident, adding that the deceased woke him up and complained thereof to which the accused said, he gave the deceased some drugs including dragon as pain killers to heal her stiff neck.
Detective Sargent Koroma said the accused also informed him that the deceased slept peacefully after taking drugs and woke up in the morning complaining the same problem to which he said, he alerted his father and a friend of his.
He said himself, his father and a friend who owned a tricycle drove the deceased (at the time she was alive) to her house at Congo Town.
Furthermore, the statement reads that the accused father phoned him in the morning hours to inform him of the deceased’s death. Detective Sargent Koroma continued that the accused said, he spoke to his boss about the death of the deceased and he was advised to make a report at the Adonkia Police Station, Goderich which is the judicial boundary of Femi Turner, where the accused resides.
Detective Koroma in his interrogation of the accused on how he met the deceased, he responded that they met on a WhatsApp group. It was on a daily discussion on the group that the deceased decided to visit him. The accused told him the deceased had only visited him four times and that during that time he seldom had sex with the deceased. He further explained that on the night of the incident he did not have sex with the deceased.
Also he informed Detective Sargent Koroma that when the visited him, she was in good health but upon leaving his house complained of a stiff neck.
The police informed the court that the accused upon his inquiry admitted that he is to be blamed for the death of the deceased.
The accused lawyer was absent. State Prosecutor O.V. Robbin Mason Jr. prosecuted the matter on behalf of the State. The matter was adjourned to 23 March 2023 for further hearing.
