The Acting Fullah Tribal Head of Port Loko District, Chief Abdulai Sow, has called for unity, peace, and collective responsibility as essential pillars for development across the district.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting held on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Mile 38, Chief Sow addressed representatives from all thirteen chiefdoms, outlining his vision for inclusive leadership and community cohesion.
In his keynote remarks, Chief Sow expressed appreciation to the people of Port Loko for their support and confidence in his leadership. He stressed that his administration would be guided by openness, dialogue, and mutual respect, noting that effective leadership depends on the involvement of all stakeholders.
“We are one family and nothing will divide us,” he said, emphasizing the need for unity at all levels of society. He added that peace remains the foundation upon which development can be built, urging communities to put aside differences and work together for the common good.
Chief Sow highlighted that his leadership would prioritize consultation and engagement with traditional leaders, youth groups, and women across the district. He assured that his doors remain open to ideas and contributions that will move the district forward.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders, also served as a platform for reaffirming support for the Fullah leadership structure. Speaker after speaker expressed confidence in Chief Sow’s ability to foster unity and maintain stability within the district.
Earlier, the Fullah Chief of Koya Chiefdom, Chernor Bailor Barrie, underscored the importance of peace and unity, stating that the meeting was convened to strengthen relationships among chiefdoms and promote development. He noted that without peace, progress would remain a challenge.
Women’s representative and Chairlady of Koya Chiefdom, Mariama Ramadan Jalloh, also pledged support for the Acting Tribal Head. She highlighted the role of women in promoting peace within communities and called for continued collaboration to ensure stability.
Other speakers, including Chernor Pottal Bah and National Youth Leader Chernor Issa Jalloh, urged residents to respect the rule of law and support the current leadership. They stressed that leadership should unite rather than divide communities.
Chief Sow concluded by reaffirming his commitment to serve with fairness and transparency. He called on all residents of Port Loko District to remain peaceful and supportive, noting that only through unity can meaningful and lasting development be achieved.
The meeting ended with a renewed sense of solidarity, as stakeholders pledged to work together under the leadership of the Acting Fullah Tribal Head to build a more peaceful and progressive district.
