In a wonderful Meet & Greet with Pelumi Nubi hosted by Africell Sierra Leone Limited at Radisson Blue Hotel Hall, Aberdeen, Freetown, Monday 1 July 2024, Africell SL Ltd. celebrated a 29-year-old Nigerian and UK based woman, Pelumi Nubi after her driving solo from United Kingdom to Nigeria.
The Meet and Greet was attended by young entrepreneurs, media influencers, Africell SL Ltd customers and the Fourth Estate, who all marveled at Pelumi Nubi’s journey and her contributions to tourism in Africa. The event also offered attendees an opportunity to ask questions about Nubi’s acclaimed ground-breaking road trip from the UK to Nigeria. Her adventurous spirit and inspiring journey have captivated many. Pelumi Nubi has traveled to 87 countries.
In her opening statement, Pelumi Nubi expressed profound thanks and appreciation to all attendees. She said, she loves taking adventure and the inspiration came from within. She explained that she took the journey alone. “It was me alone and God,” she said. She highlighted some items she put together to undertake such a journey.
She noted that she had a mini car; put together water supply, a small comfortable bed, tent, and electric gas cooker. She admitted that it was an expensive and challenging adventure. She affirmed that her main motive of taking such adventure is to show the beauty of the Africa continent. She said, the journey supposed to take 60 days but due to some challenges, it extended to 74 days.
The HOS Digital Marketing Officer from Africell SL Ltd, Mr. Kamanda Koroma raised a very important point that whenever you want to start something naysayers will pull you down. Responding to his point noted, she said, as a woman when once she had set a plan, she will work on it until she achieves her dream. She said, it is only when it is done people will recognize you. She added that after this historic journey, young people and aged people start sending her messages expressing their desire to take similar adventure.
The event ended with attendees snapping photographs of Pelumi Nubi with warm words of encouragement, and congratulatory remarks. The company representatives also thanked the attendees for their participation and continued support as Africell SL Ltd works to provide partnership with Pelumi Nubi.
