Africell, a leading mobile operator, has officially launched its 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for employees, offering a total prize pool of 18,000 new Leones for the top teams. The tournament is taking place at the Young Sportsmen Club (YSC) on Wilkinson Road in Freetown.

During the unveiling of the teams, Africell’s Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi, emphasized that the tournament is designed to promote camaraderie and enjoyment among staff members. “This initiative is part of our commitment to encourage our employees to work diligently while also having fun,” Mr. Gerjawi stated. He invited all staff, including players, to bring their families to each match day for a full entertainment experience.

Africell’s Human Resource Manager, Fobay Jusu, highlighted that the tournament aligns with the company’s management strategies to help employees discover and nurture their talents. “We aim to support our staff in exploring their abilities, and by the end of this tournament, we hope to identify potential players who can compete at the national level,” she asserted. Madam Jusu emphasized the importance of participation in fostering new talents alongside existing ones.
