Africell Clarifies: No Price Increase—New TikTok Bundle Introduced to Enhance Customer Experience

In response to recent public concerns regarding changes in data bundle offerings, Africell Sierra Leone has officially clarified that no data prices have been increased, and that all current prices remain unchanged. According to the Marketing Communications Manager, Kamanda Koroma, the company has instead introduced a new TikTok bundle to give subscribers more flexible and entertaining data options.

The Manager further emphasized that while the 1Mbps weekly bundle was discontinued, the daily 1Mbps plan has been retained, and other bundles have remained untouched in both pricing and quality. “There has been no price increase. We have only realigned some packages to reflect customer preferences and usage trends. Our new TikTok bundle is a direct response to the growing demand for platform-specific data access,” he stated.

The explanation comes amidst reports circulating online and on social media accusing major telecom operators, including Africell and Orange, of raising data prices without public notice. However, Africell has reiterated its commitment to transparent, affordable, and customer-centric services, stressing that changes to their data portfolio are part of ongoing efforts to improve product offerings and value for money.

The introduction of the TikTok bundle, in particular, is seen as a strategic move to support young users, content creators, and digital entrepreneurs who increasingly rely on social media for networking, education, and business.

While Africell acknowledged that the 1Mbps weekly bundle was a favorite among some users, the company assured subscribers that alternatives are available to suit different needs and budgets. “Our customers remain at the heart of every decision we make. We continue to invest heavily in infrastructure and innovation to serve them better,” the Manager added.

Contrary to claims of poor service, Africell highlighted recent efforts to enhance network quality, expand 4G coverage, and improve customer care, positioning itself as a leader in the digital transformation of Sierra Leone.

Industry observers have praised Africell for its responsiveness and willingness to engage the public, urging regulatory bodies and stakeholders to support operators who prioritize innovation, affordability, and communication transparency.

As digital access continues to play a vital role in national development, Africell’s focus on evolving data services, including tailored bundles like the new TikTok plan, is a step in the right direction—especially in a market where user behavior and needs are constantly shifting.

The company has encouraged users to explore the new offerings and provide feedback via its official platforms, reaffirming its openness to dialogue and commitment to continuous improvement.
