In a ground breaking move that underscores its commitment to employee welfare, Africell Sierra Leone has set a new standard by distributing over 20 acres of land to its longest-serving staff members. This initiative, a first of its kind in the country, aims to acknowledge and reward the dedicated service of individuals who have been integral to the company’s success.

Located in York Village, Freetown Western Rural, the distributed plots of land serve as a tangible token of appreciation for the diligence and loyalty demonstrated by Africell’s employees over the years. According to Shadi Gerjawi, the Managing Director of Africell Sierra Leone, this scheme is part of an ongoing effort to invest in the well-being of their workforce.

Shadi Gerjawi elaborated on the initiative, revealing plans for Africity, a development project that will include a supermarket, solar facilities, and assistance with the design and construction of residential structures on the allotted land. Additionally, eligible employees who have served the company for a minimum of ten years with a commendable track record will also have access to loans to facilitate their property development endeavours.

Notably, the benefits of this scheme extend beyond the confines of Freetown, as Africell aims to include staff members from its branches across the provinces. The company is actively seeking suitable land parcels in various localities to ensure equitable participation in this program.

Highlighting the long-term vision of the initiative, Shadi Gerjawi emphasized that it is designed as an inheritance scheme, ensuring that the legacy of ownership extends to future generations. In the event of a beneficiary’s passing, the land and property will be inherited by their next of kin, securing a lasting legacy for their families.

Grateful beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to Africell Sierra Leone for this unprecedented gesture, noting the significance of having tangible assets to pass down to their descendants. This initiative not only rewards loyalty but also fosters a sense of pride and security among employees, setting a benchmark for corporate citizenship in Sierra Leone.

As Africell continues to prioritize the well-being of its workforce, initiatives like this underscore the company’s commitment to fostering long-term relationships built on trust, appreciation, and mutual prosperity.
