 Afrimoney has last Friday 22 July 2022 officially signed an “I pay pact” with leading and reliable renewable clean energy utility provider through smart solar micro-grids, PowerGen, at Africell Sierra Leone Boardroom, Wilberforce in Freetown.

The agreement between the two giants; telecommunications and the clean and smart renewable energy service provider is meant to enhance metering top up payments scheme via AfriMoney cash transfer system from everywhere Africell SL and Afrimoney subscriber themselves in the country.

Founded 2011 with the vision of making clean, PowerGen operate in Guinea, Cote d’voire, Ghana, Togo, Liberia, Benin and in Sierra Leone.

Afrimoney being one of the most secured and reliable cash transfer networks in Sierra Leone, always enable customers to access and remit money within and out of the country at any time to recharge their PowerGen plants.

Making a statement prior to the symbolic handshake of Afrimoney Director and PowerGen Country Manager, Mamadu Karna Barrie disclosed that PowerGen is a Private Public Partnership venture that seeks to provide rural communities with ease access to clean, reliable and smarter solar energy at cost effective rates.

He recalled that since 2018 PowerGen when commenced operations in Sierra Leone, the renewable and clean energy giant has so far installed massive mini grid facilities in many rural communities in the country where people now benefit from regular power supplies.

Barrie described the agreement with Afrimoney as a memorable moment in the operation of PowerGen in Sierra Leone as well as for both parties, and expressed firm optimism that the joint collaboration will span beyond twenty years.

He expressed profound gratitude to Afrimoney team and Africell SL for striking such a wonderful deal with PowerGen.

Explaining further about PowerGen metering recharge system, Barrie reassured customers to make payments via their Afrimoney mobile phone accounts, adding that thirteen thousand households in different parts of the country are now comfortable and proud users of the scheme.

Afrimoney Director, Martinson Obeng-Agyei registered his service’s firmest commitments towards continuous secured, and reliable cash deliveries to the people of Sierra Leone, and observed that people in rural communities need to access power and mobile phones for the betterment of their lives.

He reaffirmed that the partnership between Afrimoney and PowerGen is about empowering Sierra Leoneans, underscoring the significance of payments, as key drive of the entire scheme.

Martinson Obeng-Agyei said payment is the only drive that can keep the system going and can be done anywhere at any point for oneself to get the benefit of doing it by dialing *161# to make a payment. The payment system, he said works round the clock for the benefits of Sierra Leoneans.

Earlier, the Assistant Media Manager, Africell SL, Nancy L. Toure told journalists that the pact between Afrimoney and PowerGen is about enhancing easy access to energy from everywhere Afrimoney customers are in the country. She therefore encouraged Africell SL subscribers to register with Afrimoney to enable them access and make payments for their PowerGen services
