In a bid to enhance digital payments of dues by tricycle (keke) riders, the Sierra Leone Commercial Tricycle Riders Union (SLCTRU) has on Friday 12 May 2023 sealed a pact with Afrimoney Sierra Leone.
The agreement signing between Afrimoney SL and SLCTRU, took place at Africell Sierra Leone headquarters, Pivot Street, Wilberforce in Freetown.
According to Africell, the agreement is aimed at facilitating quick payments through Afrimoney SL digital cash transfer platform.
Welcoming his guests, Head of Marketing and Communication, Africell SL, John Lppai Konteh registered Africell SL’s profound delight in partnering with the Sierra Leone Commercial Tricycle Riders Union.
“Africell is very happy over the partnership between Afrimoney SL and the SLCTRU,” he disclosed.
Konteh disclosed that Africell SL has been in strong working ties with the SLCTRU on many occasions and reaffirmed the company’s commitment towards providing reliable service to customers.
He vowed that Africell SL will continue to improve on it excellent services to bring more excitements for customers.
Konteh also disclosed plans by Afrimoney SL to continue to increase penetration to hard-to-reach communities to enable customers’ access, receive and transfer cash as and when the needed arises.
Speaking for and on behalf of his colleagues, president, Sierra Leone Commercial Tricycle Riders’ Union, Ibrahim Serry expressed appreciations to Afrimoney SL for signing a partnership agreement with SLCTRU.
Serry described the Afrimoney SL- SLCTRU partnership as significant to the union, adding that the agreement with the mobile operator emerged following consultations with the whole membership of the union.
Serry said after consultations with members, they decided to partner with Afrimoney SL digital cash transfer platform for the payment of their dues.
Ibrahim Serry called on all riders of the union to buy Africell sim and join Afrimoney SL as all the union transactions will be done digitally.
He said that after the signing of the agreement they will ensure that all riders adhere to the partnership agreement by joining Afrimoney and do their transactions using Afrimoney SL platform.
The Managing Director of Afrimoney SL, Martison Obeng-Agyei said Afrimoney SL is very pleased to sign a partnership agreement with the SLCTRU.
He underscored the importance of transportation in national economy of any country.
He registered Afrimoney SL’s profound delight at the partnership; noting that it will help improve members of the Union.
Martison Obeng-Agyei said if the tricycle riders are happy, they will provide better services to the people which will have a positive effect.
He reassured that the partnership will be enjoyed by both parties.
He said Afrimoney SL is not only signing because they wanted to but assured the agreement signing between the two parties will be a turning point for all keke – tricycle riders in Sierra Leone.
The Managing Director informed that the world is moving digital and anyone who doesn’t belong to the digital economy will lose.
He said that Afrimoney SL is embracing the digital economy thus called on ‘keke’ riders across the country to embrace the digital economy.
“This signing ceremony today is only the begging of many good things to come, as we work to make the lives of Sierra Leoneans better” Afrimoney Managing Director said.
He continued that they started by influencing the lives of ‘keke’ riders.
We will provide many things that will make this relationship possible, he assured.
“At Afrimoney SL and Africell SL we say we love you and we are with you today. If you touch one ‘keke’ rider, you touch Afrimoney SL.” he concluded.
