In an event that radiated both beauty and purpose, the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) officially launched the Old Prince Waleans Association (OPWA) UNIMTECH Chapter on March 21, 2025, at its campus.

The milestone marks a pioneering moment as OPWA UNIMTECH becomes not only fully operational but also the first officially launched alumni association on campus. The historic inauguration precedes the centenary celebration of The Prince of Wales School, commemorating 100 years of excellence and setting the stage for a transformative impact among ‘Princewaleans.’

The launch event was a vibrant celebration of unity and ambition, bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished guests. The OPWA UNIMTECH Chapter aims to empower, support, and uplift every Princewalean at UNIMTECH, fostering academic excellence, social responsibility, and moral integrity. With its official registration and launch, the association has etched its place in history, symbolizing the strength and potential of the Princewalean community.

A highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura, Vice-President II of OPWA Worldwide. Expressing his delight at the monumental achievement, Bangura conveyed warm greetings from OPWA Worldwide and underscored the transformative impact the new chapter is poised to create.

He urged the newly appointed executive to advocate for the welfare of their peers while fostering a supportive academic environment.

He further encouraged them to extend their support to The Prince of Wales School by collaborating with teachers to promote discipline, academic growth, and holistic development among students.

In a symbolic gesture of commitment, Bangura unveiled the OPWA UNIMTECH Chapter’s Centenary Logo and made a contribution of $100 to support the association’s initiatives.

Adding to the spirit of the day, UNIMTECH Students’ Union President Jacklyn Mariama Malik expressed her admiration for the newly launched chapter. She commended OPWA UNIMTECH for its leadership and commitment to excellence on campus, reflecting the enduring legacy of Princewaleans.

Recalling her long-standing association with the Princewalean community, Malik encouraged the executive team to uphold the values recognized by both the Students’ Union and the university administration. “The OPWA UNIMTECH Chapter is the first alumni association to be officially launched at UNIMTECH since its registration. This is a testament to how Princewaleans lead by example,” she proudly stated in her closing remarks.

Moses Kandeh, the newly appointed President of OPWA UNIMTECH, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support received from invited guests, speakers, the Students’ Union, and the university administration. Reflecting on the challenges faced during the chapter’s formation, Kandeh emphasized that overcoming these obstacles was a testament to the resilience and determination of Princewaleans. He pledged to continue championing the welfare of his fellow Princewaleans academically, socially, and morally while also supporting The Prince of Wales School in nurturing future generations of students.

The official launch of OPWA UNIMTECH marks more than just a ceremonial milestone—it is a beacon of hope and progress for the entire Princewalean community.

As the chapter embarks on its mission to foster academic excellence, social cohesion, and lifelong support, it stands as a proud testament to what can be achieved through unity, vision, and determination. With its foundation deeply rooted in a legacy of excellence, OPWA UNIMTECH looks forward to a future filled with promise and transformative impact.
