AIG Brima Kanneh Launches Perimeter Fence Project to Protect Police Land in Freetown East

Freetown, Tuesday, October 21, 2025 — In a significant step to safeguard state property from illegal encroachment, the Regional Commander of Freetown East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, conducted a formal inspection and groundbreaking ceremony at the Owen Street Police Post land, located along the Hill Side Bye-Pass Road in the East End of Freetown.

The event marked a turning point in efforts to secure and develop the strategic police site. During his visit, AIG Kanneh officially turned the sod to signal the commencement of the construction of a perimeter fence around the police land.

Speaking after a briefing from the local Commanding Officer, AIG Kanneh expressed gratitude to the officers and personnel for their unwavering commitment in safeguarding the land from encroachment He reaffirmed that the property would be utilized for its intended policing purposes and called on the public and all stakeholders to support the initiative for the greater good.

“This land belongs to the Sierra Leone Police, and it will be developed to serve the needs of the Police and the community,” he emphasized. “I urge everyone to respect the vision and work together to see it through.”

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic sod-turning by AIG Kanneh, officially kick-starting the construction phase of the perimeter fence.
