One Mrs Alfreda Juliet Mamawa Aaron-Johnson has reportedly escaped from Sierra Leone pending her proposed Sowei initiation on 23rd September, 2023 in Dambala Village, Bo District.

Alfreda, according to reports, will be prepared as head of the soweis in replacement of her blind aunt, Ngor Betty.

Alfreda, sources revealed, came from a family of soweis, her great grandmother and grandmother were all soweis.

After the passing of her grandmother, her mother was supposed to take up the mantle but she passed away three days after her initiation in the year 1989.

Sources went further that since Alfreda who was the only one in line to take up her mother’s duties was only four years old, her mother’s only surviving cousin was chosen to carry out the duties of the sowei who became blind early this year (in April 2023) due to the initiation of young girls and women.

Due to this Alfreda will be prepared as a sowei by undergoing the initiation on Saturday, 23rd September, 2023 before the pending proposed Bondo (FGM) initiation of young girls including her daughter Mida Aaron-Aaron Johnson in December this year.

She has reportedly left the shores of Sierra Leone due to constant threats she faced in her village.

Sources further intimated this medium that, when the news broke out and she was told by her blind aunt about her proposed initiation on September 23rd this year, Alfreda rejected because of her religious beliefs and the death of her mother while undergoing this same sowei initiation.

She reportedly said she doesn’t want to belong to any demonic society.

Sources also informed this medium that her two sons must also be initiated into the Wunde society (men society) because their mother holds the highest rank in the Bondo society.
