In a sweeping and decisive victory, prominent media personality-turned-politician Alhaji Komba has emerged as the new Chairman of the Central District for the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), defeating incumbent Elder Nabieu by a landslide.

Komba’s triumph, though commanding, came as little surprise to many within the party and district. His consistent dedication, grassroots engagement, and unshakable loyalty to the SLPP have long earned him admiration across the political spectrum. For many supporters, his election was the natural outcome of years of visible commitment and advocacy on behalf of his community.

In his post-election remarks, Chairman Komba referred to the victory as a “real test” in his political journey, one he believes he has passed with the backing of a hopeful and motivated constituency. “It was my diligent service to my people and this district that made them choose me to do more,” he said, acknowledging the widespread support he received.

Citizens in the Central District were vocal about their reasons for rallying behind Komba. Residents cited his development record, integrity, and unwavering support for community progress as key motivations. Many admitted that they were the ones who encouraged him to contest, confident that his leadership would usher in transformative change.

“He has sacrificed a lot for us as people and district,” said one jubilant supporter. “We did not make a mistake. We have full confidence that he will deliver.”

Alhaji Komba, a youthful and ambitious figure in the party, has pledged to align district development with the SLPP’s broader national agenda. He specifically promised to prioritize youth and women’s empowerment — two pillars he described as essential for sustainable growth in the district.

“The people’s call is one I wholeheartedly embrace,” Komba said. “I am poised to serve them even more. Development will reach all four corners of this district.”

He also assured the party leadership of his unwavering loyalty and commitment. “This victory is not just mine — it belongs to the entire SLPP family in the Central District,” he stated. “I thank the leadership, my supporters, and the entire membership for reposing their confidence in me. I will not disappoint you.”

With an eye on the 2028 general elections, Komba vowed to work tirelessly to consolidate SLPP’s presence and success in the district. His leadership, supporters say, signals a new chapter for grassroots politics — one rooted in service, accountability, and vision.

The outcome of the district chairmanship race has been widely seen as a shift toward younger, more dynamic leadership within the SLPP. Many believe that Alhaji Komba’s win may set the tone for further generational change in the party’s internal leadership structure.

As the dust settles on a heated contest, one thing remains clear: Alhaji Komba’s rise signals renewed energy in the SLPP’s Central District operations — and his supporters are expecting results.
