His Excellency Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sierra Leone, Hu Zhangliang last Friday 30 September 2022 observed the celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, at a reception hosted at the China-Sierra Leone Friendship hall at Brookfields in Freetown.
The 73rd anniversary of the PRC was graced by staff of the Chinese Embassy in Freetown, members of the Government of Sierra Leone, cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament. Also formed part of guests were friendly organizations to the Chinese Embassy in Freetown.
Speaking during the anniversary reception, H.E. Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang said: “Over the past 73 years, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people have created a miracle of development that has attracted worldwide attention. China is more closely linked to the future and destiny of the world. China and Sierra Leone have over the years cooperated in the areas of education, human resource development, mining, agriculture, infrastructure and construction, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, health and sanitation, and peace and security. This cooperation has yielded laudable results. The future of China-Sierra Leone friendship will be more shining and promising.”
Warmly congratulating China on its 73rd National Day anniversary, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, Madam Mamadi Gobeh Kamara, on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, commended China on the great achievements it has made in the past 73 years, and expressed hope that the 20th National Congress of CPC would be successfully convened.
She said Sierra Leone has enjoyed cordial and special relationship with China for more than 50 years and “the Government of Sierra Leone will continue to adhere to the One-China policy”, support China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and work with the Chinese side to deepen the relations between the two countries.
The guests watched the special video introducing China’s development and China-Africa cooperation, as well as the blessing video recorded by Chinese compatriots and Sierra Leonean friends from all walks of life. They enjoyed the wonderful cultural performances brought by students from the Confucius Institute at Fourah Bay College and its Junior Secondary School.
