The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Wang Qing and his wife, Gu Shaohua have on Wednesday 3 June, 2024 graced the 23rd edition of “Chinese Bridge”; a Chinese language proficiency competition for foreign college students, Sierra Leone regional final in Freetown.
Speaking at the occasion Ambassador Wang warmly congratulated the finalists and thanked people from all sects of the society who support the development of Chinese education in Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Wang described language is a golden key to understanding Chinese history and culture as well as mastering the future technology and encouraged the young Sierra Leoneans to take Chinese language learning as an opportunity to understand the comprehensive and multi-dimensional China. He continued that the process will enable them to become non-governmental ambassadors of China-Sierra Leone and contribute more to the exchanges and cooperation between two countries and the building of a community of human destiny.
The event was graced by esteemed representative of Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone, Chinese and Sierra Leonean Director of the Confucius Institute who presented awards to the winners.
The nine contestants who entered the final stage expressed their love passion for Chinese culture and true understanding of “One World, One Family” through Chinese speech, dance, singing, and martial arts, etc.
