The Acting National Chairman of the All People’s Congress APC Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh has called for an end to internal divisions within the party, declaring 2026 as a year of unity, reconciliation and renewed collective purpose.
In a New Year address delivered on 1 January 2026, Alhaji Yansaneh urged APC members and supporters at home and abroad to embrace peace, forgiveness and cooperation as the party prepares for future political engagements, including the 2028 general elections.
Describing the New Year as a moment for reflection and renewal, the Acting Chairman acknowledged that the APC has experienced internal disagreements and tensions in recent times. He said such challenges are not unique to the party but stressed that continued division would weaken its ability to serve as a credible alternative government.
He called on party members to focus on what unites them rather than what divides them, urging a shift away from hostile language, factional interests and personal grievances. According to him, the survival and strength of the APC depend on discipline, humility and loyalty to the collective vision of the party.
“This New Year calls us to peace, reconciliation and genuine love,” Alhaji Yansaneh said, adding that members must be willing to forgive past hurts and place the interest of the party above individual ambitions, especially as preparations begin for party conventions and future elections.
The Acting Chairman made a strong appeal for the dissolution of camps and rival groupings within the APC, urging members to rally under what he described as Team APC. He said unity of purpose and shared commitment are essential for rebuilding a strong and organised political movement capable of winning national elections.
He further emphasised that patience and mutual respect must guide relations among party stakeholders, noting that only through collective effort can trust be rebuilt and the party repositioned to effectively address national challenges.
In a move aimed at strengthening internal cohesion, Alhaji Yansaneh disclosed that the APC National Executive has agreed to engage key stakeholders, including former flagbearers and aspirants. He confirmed that plans are underway to meet with Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana and all other flagbearer aspirants as part of efforts to promote inclusiveness and address lingering concerns within the party.
According to him, these engagements are necessary to respond to the expectations of supporters and citizens who are looking to the APC for unity, hope and effective leadership.
Drawing from local wisdom, the Acting Chairman quoted a popular Sierra Leonean proverb, saying “No bad road nor dae wey nor get end,” to reassure members that current challenges can be overcome through perseverance and collective resolve.
He concluded his message by wishing all APC members and supporters a happy and peaceful New Year, expressing hope that unity and love will guide the party throughout 2026 and beyond.
The address has been widely interpreted as a renewed push for internal reconciliation as the APC seeks to strengthen its structures and present a united front ahead of upcoming political contests.
