SIERRA LEONE’S BIGGEST AND MOST WIDELY READ NEWSPAPER, Cocorioko, has interviewed leaders in the diaspora connected with the All People’s Congress (APC) Diaspora 6th Region Women’s Congress Launching Program and Achievement Awards Dinner, which has attracted hundreds of party partisans to Landham, Maryland in the United States, this weekend.

The leaders interviewed by COCORIOKO are Mr. Alfred Kebbie Sesay , the President of the APC Diaspora 6th Region; Madam Cassandra Kenny, the Women’s Leader of the Diaspora 6th Region , Madam Minette Sandi, the Deputy Women’s Leader of the 6th Region and Madam Namina Kossay, the Women’s Leader of the APC-USA.

  1. ALFRED KEBBIE SESAY:

He said the weekend’s program was staged to rally APC partisans together, to unite them, breathe a new sense of purpose into them about the future of the party and to launch the registration and verification process of the party membership that is presently going on. Yesterday, the APC  party members in Maryland went to the mosque to pray for the party and in the evening they bonded in a delightful Meet-and-Greet program where they fellowshipped with one another in the true spirit of party unity , Mr. Sesay went on. He is glad that many stakeholders of the APC have travelled from Sierra Leone and different parts of the world to attend, including the Mayor of Freetown, Mrs. Yvonne Aki-Sawyer, and several MPs, including Minority Speaker, Dr. Umpha Kamara, Hon. Ibrahim Sorie, Hon. Abdul Timbo, Hon. Abdul Karim Koroma (AKK), among others. He paid respects to officials of the APC-USA who are graciously hosting the programme in their district. He thanked the Chairman, Dr. Suphian Kalokoh, Deputy Kebbie Turay; Secretary General, Alimamy Turay and their Women’s Leader, Mrs. Namina Kossay. He also thanked the women leaders of the Diaspora 6th Region, including the Organizing Secretary, Mr. Dauda Blaq Lugbu Kamara.

MADAM CASSANDRA KENNY:

According to the Diaspora 6th Region Women’s Leader, the program is a convergence of APCians from all parts of the world. “We are trying to foster unity, bond together, so that we can tell all other members of the APC that despite all the challenges being faced by the APC,  the party is ready to unite, put aside its differences and storm back to power in Sierra Leone. We also want to honour those who have worked hard for the party and re-energize them for the work ahead. We also want to send a strong message to doubters, detractors and the oppressive ruling SLPP government that the APC is not dead and is rather determined to come back to governance to redeem the people and bring back joy into their lives. ” She thanked COCORIOKO and Publisher Amb. Kabs Kanu for always being there for the APC.

MADAM MINETTE SANDI:

The Deputy Diaspora 6th Region Women’s Leader said the program is being held to discountenance all the negativity about the APC out there in the public and social media and to demonstrate to the people and the SLPP that the APC is still strong and kicking, and that “we still have the fire inside us and we are ready to assume governance in Sierra Leone. We also challenge all the women of the APC to arise and fight for the party.  We also want to send a strong message to all our APC  partisans in Freetown and other parts of Sierra Leone that this is how constructively we should be engaging so that we can change the negative perception being peddled around about our party and prepare the party positively to return to power “.  She called on all APC members to avoid joining cabals and factions and put the APC first. “We can demolish the negativity and challenges around the party. I am therefore calling upon all true APC partisans to remain strong and united and let us be meeting regularly and know the work we have to do to make our party stronger and help it return to power.” She also commended the Cocorioko Publisher for conducting the interview with them to give his own quota towards rebuilding the APC.

MADAM NAMINA KOSSAY:

The APC-USA Women’s Leader welcomed the program and said it is a very significant step towards peace and unity in the APC. She thanked the Diaspora 6th Region Women and other officials for also recognizing those working hard to move the APC forward. She is very positive that the APC will overcome its challenges and return to power.
